Our range of services includes the design and professional installation of shafts.
The technologies used by our company allow to equip any building with elevators, even if the presence of a lifting mechanism was not provided at the design stage. The most reliable and affordable way of organizing the elevator shaft is the use of metal frame system.
Equipment and structural elements of the elevator shaft
Such equipment is placed in the elevator shaft:
- passenger and/or cargo stall;
- counterweight; ropes/chains that transmit traction to the cab; speed limiter and related equipment;
- buffers/uprights - spring mechanisms for the cab and counterweight;
- rails, which ensure that the cab descends and rises as if on rails; electric cable connecting the cab equipment and the switchgear;
- chains, ropes, rubber ropes and other elements for balancing in case of high mass of traction ropes;
- electric lighting; equipment for locating the stall in the shaft;
- door portals.
The shaft frame is fixed to the building by brackets welded or bolted to the building elements.
The lower part of the shaft, which is under the lower first floor platform, the pit. This is where the buffers or stops, the counterweight, and the tensioning equipment of the speed limiter are located.
And the top of the shaft, which is between the floor of the structure and the floor of the last floor that the elevator serves, is the top floor. It is often equipped with a limit switch. It can be used to open the electrical circuit of the elevator in case of a failure in the control system, if the car rises above the last landing.
Mandatory requirements for the installation of the shaft
In the elevator shaft is strictly prohibited to install equipment or utilities that are not part of the elevator system, except for fire and security alarms, dispatching systems, shaft heating and ventilation.
Important: all heating control and regulation devices must be installed outside the elevator shaft. Inside the shaft, a fixed electrical wiring is installed in the shaft, providing illumination from 50 lux. Lighting devices are installed a maximum of half a meter away from the top and bottom edges of the shaft. If the shaft is fenced with a mesh or transparent material, there is enough outdoor lighting, it can be left unequipped with light.
Sequence of shaft installation:
- installation of the lower support frame on the pit foundation;
- installation of risers;
- reinforcement of the structure with horizontal belts;
- cladding the shaft with metal, plastic, glass, wood or other material.
Depending on the floor level of the building, the layout of the building and the capacity of the elevator mechanism, the metal frame shaft is made in a load-bearing or non-bearing version. Non-bearing shaft is attached to the walls of the building with special brackets, and the load is partially transferred to the building structures of the house. In a load-bearing shaft, the forces are fully absorbed by the metal frame.
